While driving, you have to have with you in the car:
- a warning triangle (meeting the requirements under E-rule No 27); - one fire extinguisher with 1 kg of extinguishing agent; - two usable wheel chocks to match the wheel diameter; - in an employer’s vehicle, there has to be first aid equipment (as per the Regulation of the Minister of Social Affairs: https://www.riigiteataja.ee/ert/act.jsp?id=81146);
For the purposes of the Traffic Act, a vehicle is a device powered by a motor or in some other way, designated for road traffic or driving on the road. A motor vehicle is a power driven vehicle. A bicycle with a motor, a moped or a track haulage powered by a motor are not considered to be motor vehicles. SPEED In speed selection the driver must consider, in addition to the speed limit established for the respective section of road, also weather and road conditions, traffic density, the peculiarities and condition of the vehicle and the load, visibility both along the road and to the sides, including change of visibility at dipping, relief of the landscape and his own driving experience. Driving is permitted:
1. in residential areas at speeds up to 20 km/h 2. in built-up areas up to 50 km/h 3. outside built-up areas up to 90 km/h
USE OF LIGHTS Driving all the year, 24 hours lights on! Driving in daylight hours dipped headlights or daytime driving lights must be switched on. During the dark time the main beam or the headlights must be switched on.
LOADS TRANSPORTATION Loads on vehicles must be placed, covered and fastened in accordance with freight transportation regulations valid in Estonia (Regulation of large-scale and/or heavy motor transport, Estonian Road Administration Tallinn 1996).
The actual mass of a vehicle and the load on any of the axles must not exceed the full mass and axial loads specified by the manufacturer unless freight carrying regulations establish lower standards.
Permission has to be obtained from the road owner (holder) if any of the measurements of the vehicle (loaded or unloaded) or its actual mass or axial load surpasses the following figures:
in height 4,0 metres from the road surface,
in width 2,55 metres, for the bodies of heated, refrigerator, freezer or thermovehicles, if the thickness of the heat-insulated wall is at least 45 millimetres - 2,6 metres,
in length- for motor vehicles and center-axle trailers 12,0 meters, for towing vehicles coupled together with semi trailers 16,5 meters,
for towing vehicles coupled together with full or center-axle trailers or tow able devices 18,75 meters,
for articulated buses 18,0 meters or if the load overhangs the front or the rear of the vehicle to the extent of more than one meters
actual weight - 18 tons for a two-axle motor vehicle and a two-axle full or centre-axle trailer. - 24 tons for a three-axle full or centre-axle trailer. - 25 tons for a three-axle motor vehicle. - 26 tons for a three-axle motor vehicle, if the driving axle has dual tires, and pneumatic springs or springs deemed equal to them are being used or if both powered axles have dual tires and the axle weight of any axle does not exceed 9,5 tons. - 31 tons for a four-axle motor vehicle with two steering axles. - 32 tons for a four-axle motor vehicle with two steering axles, if the driving axle has dual tires and pneumatic springs or springs deemed equal to them are being used or if both powered axles have dual tires and the axle weight of any axle does not exceed 9,5 tons. - 28 tons for a three-axle articulated bus. - 32 tons for all other motor vehicles. - 36 tons for a train-type vehicle consisting of a two-axle towing vehicle coupled together with a two-axle full trailer, and when the distance between the centres of the axles of the semi-trailer is 1,3 metres at least. - 38 tons when the distance between the centres of the axles of the semi-trailer exceeds 1,8 metres and the maximum allowed weight is 20 tons and the driving axle of the towing vehicle is equipped with dual tires and the maximum allowed registered weight is 18 tons and the road train is using pneumatic springs or springs deemed equal to them. - 40 tons for a road train consisting of a two-axle towing vehicle coupled together with a three-axle full or centre-axle trailer, for a road train consisting of a three- or four-axle towing vehicle coupled together with a two-, three- or four-axle full or centre-axle trailer, for a road train consisting of a two-axle towing vehicle coupled together with a three-axle semi-trailer, for a road train consisting of a three-axle towing vehicle coupled together with a two- or three-axle semi-trailer, for all other road trains and combinations of a towing vehicle and a towable device. - 44 tons for a road train consisting of a three-axle towing vehicle coupled together with a two- or a three-axle semi-trailer of 12,2-metre long ISO containers, used for combined transportation of goods.
