Road Administration informed the Pärnu bypass contractors about terminating contracts
16.03.2011
Road Administration sent a petition to Latvian company SIA Binders and Estonian company AS Koger&Partnerid today, March 16, about terminating the contract for stages I and II of the Pärnu bypass At the same time, Road Administration will start preparing new procurement documents to find a new contractor and hopes to sign a contract on August 2011 the latest.
Road Administration decided to terminate the contracts for stage I, Ehitajate tee, of Pärnu bypass and stage II, the connecting roads in west, of Pärnu bypass due to the fact that the other contracting party, group of undertakings managed by SIA Binders, had suspended roadworks in Pärnu bypass and notified the Road Administration a month ago about unilateral termination of the contract, accusing the Road Administration of violating the contracts. Road Administration explained in their response on February 25 that they have not violated the contract and demanded that the roadworks continue. Representatives of the companies claimed during the meeting on March 2 that they stand by their opinion and do not plan to continue with the roadworks.
Road Administration entered into contract for Ehitajate tee in the Pärnu bypass on September 23 2009 and for the connecting roads in west on November 3 2009 with the group of undertakings managed by AS Koger&Partnerid. SIA Binders was made the main partner last summer. Ehitajate tee roadworks should be concluded this autumn according to the contract and the deadline for connecting roads in west was October 15 last year.
Yours sincerely
